Streetcar track studio sessions
Just got back from shooting in Guatemala. The subject matter was Chagas disease, which has a huge negative economic impact in Latin America, effecting 7-8 million people. Some have recently been calling it "the new HIV/AIDS of the Americas".
This project was in association with the University of Loyola & University of Guatemala. We spent over almost a week filming in very remote locations (during which I had a fever as high as 103). We will be launching the web/video project sometime in May.
Was out and about with my daughter and girlfriend. Wanted to shoot something on my new BMCC. Found this guy running while I was skating on my longboard. Asked him if I could shoot him, and he said yes.
We spoke for a few minutes after his run and I asked him his name (Jerome), where he was from (New Orleans), why he runs, (to stay in shape), and where would he go if he could go anywhere (to Italy, Rome, to see the Coliseums).
This VO/script was sitting on my mind after talking to my brother on the phone earlier, about the natural high, the sustainable high.
Shot in Prores (not nearly as much latitude in grading as RAW, expected this, but didn’t realize how much) w/ Nikon 17-35mm + Speedbooster + VariND

I’ll never think of “namaste” in the same way again. It was some cheesy yoga thing I had said back in the states. Now, I’ll think of saying goodbye to this guy, who I will never see again, but I will always remember. A still from the Blackmagic Cinema Camera
But we connected through her eyes. She hung out with me while we drank tea on the way to Achham. Ten hour jeep ride from Kathmandu. A still from the Blackmagic Cinema Camera
Finished wrapping day one shooting for Nyaya Health in Nepal.
Vice put my girlfriend and I in a video essay/Honda advertisement. It was a ton of fun shooting & the crew at Vice were incredible. Thanks to Liz Cowie at Vice for producing/making it happen. Check out her photography work @ http://www.lizcowie.com/
